Job Description

Responsible for delivering high-quality business analysis for assigned projects, workstreams or feature scopes by eliciting, analysing and documenting business needs, supporting process and solution design and maintaining traceability through delivery, testing and implementation. The role acts as the day-to-day bridge between business stakeholders, delivery teams and technology partners, applying agreed Transformation Office methods, standards and governance and escalating matters where alignment across programs, platforms or enterprise priorities is required. On larger or more complex initiatives, the role works under the direction of the Lead Business Analyst while retaining ownership of detailed analysis outputs for allocated scope. The role operates as part of the Transformation Office, supporting the consistent delivery of change initiatives aligned to enterprise priorities, governance standards and target operating model outcomes:

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build effective relationships with business users, SMEs, product owners, delivery teams and technical specialists to understand detailed business needs, process impacts and operational constraints for assigned scope.
  • Work closely with vendors and technology providers at a working level to clarify detailed business requirements, process rules and data needs.
  • Facilitate working-level workshops, interviews and walkthroughs to gather, clarify and validate requirements, business rules and process flows.

Requirements & Analysis

  • Prepare and maintain detailed requirements artefacts for assigned scope, including business and functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps, business rules, data mappings and functional specifications as appropriate.
  • Ensure requirements are complete, internally consistent, feasible and traceable from business need through design, build, testing and implementation.
  • Analyse data, reports, controls, pain points and root causes to support practical recommendations, and apply the agreed prioritisation framework while escalating trade-offs or competing priorities that extend beyond allocated scope.

Process Design, Solution & Delivery Support

  • Analyse current-state processes, workflows, controls, customer journeys and operational practices within assigned scope to identify inefficiencies, gaps, manual workarounds and improvement opportunities.
  • Document future-state processes, rules, data needs, role impacts and exceptions in sufficient detail to support solution elaboration, build and testing.
  • Collaborate with project managers, the Lead BA, architects, SMEs, testers and vendors to ensure detailed requirements are translated into delivery-ready backlog items, design inputs and implementation tasks.
  • Provide hands-on analysis support through build, integration, testing and deployment, including cutover inputs, work instructions and reference materials where required.
  • Provide analysis support during implementation activities, including operational readiness, business cutover planning, work instructions and reference materials where required.

Governance, Risk & Quality

  • Prepare and maintain analysis artefacts in line with Transformation Office delivery frameworks, templates, governance and change control requirements.
  • Maintain accurate version control, approvals, traceability and supporting logs for requirements, actions, decisions and scope impacts.
  • Identify risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies within assigned scope, address what can be managed locally and escalate broader matters where they affect other teams, priorities or governance outcomes.
  • Incorporate feedback, resolve ambiguities and ensure documentation is fit for purpose for build, testing and implementation.
  • Business Readiness Support
  • Prepare and validate acceptance criteria, provide input to test scenarios and cases for assigned scope.
  • Support system, integration and user acceptance testing by clarifying requirements, triaging defects, verifying expected outcomes and assessing whether issues affect process design, business rules or acceptance criteria.
  • Contribute to business readiness through process impact analysis, training inputs, support documentation, cutover considerations and transition support.

Desired Skills and Experience

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Strong hands-on business analysis capability across project and change initiatives, including requirements elicitation, process analysis, documentation and traceability
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage working-level stakeholders and translate detailed business needs into structured, delivery-ready artefacts
  • Good judgement, organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage assigned scope effectively and escalate where broader alignment is required
  • Familiarity with JIRA / Confluence, Visio, Excel and Microsoft 365 suite remains important, with process modelling and requirements tools advantageous
  • Understanding of change impacts, business readiness and implementation support activities is desirable
  • Demonstrated experience delivering business analysis across project delivery, transformation or operational improvement initiatives, including requirements, process analysis, solution support, testing and implementation activities
  • Experience working with both business and technology stakeholders in a matrix environment and supporting delivery in Agile, Waterfall or hybrid settings
  • Experience in regulated environments and exposure to enterprise platforms remain desirable
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and BA / agile / change certifications are advantageous, with SQL or data interrogation skills beneficial
