Job Description

We are currently looking for a Regulatory Change and Compliance Manager. The key purpose of this role is to ensure that VWFS meets regulatory compliance obligations and operational risks through the maintenance, improvement and implementation of regulatory changes and managing and mitigating regulatory compliance risk across the enterprise.


Roles and responsibilities: 


Compliance Governance
•    Analyse, interpret, and assess the impact of regulatory changes on VWFSA’s operations, identifying solutions that meet compliance requirements in a timely manner.
•    Translate business needs and regulatory requirements into detailed, actionable plans.
•    Manage VWFS’ policy framework e.g. governance, monitoring, reporting in alignment with regulatory changes.
•    Identify and assess potential compliance risks, develop strategies to mitigate those risks, and manage regulatory reporting.
•    Design and evolve our compliance framework to align with Australian laws, regulatory expectations, and best practice standards.
•    Evolve the AML/CTF compliance program in line with AUSTRAC obligations.
•    Provide advice on AML/CTF matters to internal teams and projects.
Controls and Training: 
•    Proactively identify gaps and corrective actions that are required to maintain an effective compliance program. 
•    Maintain and improve the obligations and controls registers, including those required for NCCP and AML/CTF.
•    Continuously refine compliance controls to stay ahead of emerging risks and industry shifts.
•    Develop and deliver training and awareness programs across business units on compliance requirements, policies, and procedures.
Advisory
•    Act as a Compliance SME and provide advisory to business stakeholders across the organisation.
•    Provide specialist compliance advice to the business in leading the identification, analysis, evaluation and treatment of compliance risks.  
Incident Management
•    Investigate and resolve compliance incidents and ensure that corrective actions are implemented. 
•    Take charge of compliance incident management, drive root cause analysis and implement preventative measures to reduce future compliance risk.
•    Interact with internal departments, external auditors, and regulatory bodies. 
•    Keep abreast of changes in relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices. 
Controls, Monitoring and Reporting
•    Compliance reporting to the Operational Risk and Compliance Committee, VWFS Board and VWFS Headquarters.
•    Conduct regular internal audits, review company operations, and ensure adherence to established standards. 
•    Report on compliance status to management and relevant stakeholders

The successful applicant: 
•    Previous experience in compliance risk management and delivering projects within highly complex environments.
•    Previous experience within a risk function at a managerial/supervisory level, preferably within the motor finance industry.
•    Capability to interpret complex regulations and develop actionable strategies with multiple dependencies and tight timelines.
•    Understanding of regulatory landscape for financial services and regulatory obligations arising from NCCPA, AML/CTF Laws, ASIC and Privacy Law.
•    Ability to work autonomously but also within a close team environment.
•    Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills and the confidence to liaise with stakeholders across multiple levels of the organisation.
•    Ability to probe for full understanding of other’s position in order to find common ground and mutually acceptable outcomes
•    Relevant tertiary education in Business, Finance, Economics or Law would be highly regarded.
