We are seeking a skilled Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence Administrator to manage day to day operations of our WES databases, data warehouse, and Business Intelligence tools. This role will implement business requirements, support projects, ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of data in line with VWFS policies, procedures, and industry’s best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Database Administration
• Manage and maintain databases, including installation, upgrades, patching and vulnerability management.
• Monitor, tune, and optimise databases to ensure high performance and availability.
• Perform database capacity planning and support backup and recovery processes.
• Administer database security and service account permissions following Access Identity Management (AIM) and Privileged Access Management (PAM) policies.
• Analyse and troubleshoot performance issues, advise on high availability concepts and provide recommendations for technical solutions.
• Support IT Operations, Application Support teams, and IT Service Continuity Management (ITSCM) process, including documentation and testing.
Data Warehouse & Business Intelligence Administration
• Monitor and support data warehouse environments to ensure optimal performance and resource utilisation.
• Manage and troubleshoot ETL processes, including MS SSIS packages.
• Provide technical support for SAP BusinessObjects BI platform, including universe administration and semantic layer management.
• Support master data management processes and commissions write back functions.
• Create and maintain documentation for database structures, data marts, cubes and shared data rules.
• Perform analysis and execute complex queries and stored procedures to meet business needs.
• Collaborate with MIS and Application Support teams to address BI platform issues and queries.
Change Management & Stakeholder Collaboration
• Support Quality Assurance (QA) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) environment refreshes.
• Assist with production release management and change processes.
• Work closely with business analysts, customers, and IT teams to define user requirements, performance needs, and system capabilities.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, providing guidance on application and architecture concepts.
Compliance & Documentation
• Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with IT policies and best practices.
• Create and maintain comprehensive system documentation for databases and BI platforms.
Requirements:
• Minimum 5 years of commercial experience in database management and design.
• Information Technology degree or equivalent qualification
• Strong knowledge of BI and data warehousing concepts
• Highly skilled in writing complex SQL queries
• Experience supporting ETL processes and MS SSIS packages
• Hands on experience with enterprise level BI platforms such as SAP BusinessObjects BI
• Strong understanding of database performance optimisation and security best practices
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce technical documentation.
